A good obituary is a celebration...not a mourning. While humor has it's role in an obituary, too many puns send the wrong message. That being said, Ben Franklin summed life up best when he said:
"I wake up every morning at nine and grab for the morning paper. Then I look at the obituary page. If my name is not on it, I get up."
